Villa Kalisat – Your authentic “Bali Home”.

A 12 min drive north-east of Ubud centre, Villa Kalisat is located behind a Balinese rural traditional family community. This community consists of 4 related families spanning 3 generations. This is the family home of our Hotel Manager (Dewa) and many of our staff.

We enjoy a rare partnership with our Balinese family. Our two hotel structures – with 7 rooms, 2 swimming pools, 2 pavilions, a spa and a restaurant – are built on leased family land to maximise the views. We have wished to keep the Balinese family spirit at Villa Kalisat so our 12 staff members all live within our village in front of the hotel or are related to someone who lives in our village.

Your short 50 meter walk from our entrance to Villa Kalisat reception gives a daily dose of true Balinese culture and a chance to get up close with everyday life in real Bali. This is our Balinese family’s home and they are all happy and proud to share with you their culture and customs, interacting with our guests as much or as little as our guests wish to.

Everyday the village goes on with its normal daily rituals and tasks, and our guests can take part in it if they wish to. You can go for a morning walk to the rice fields worked by our village. You will often hear the Gamelan music being practiced for the next ceremony and see offering baskets being made and placed whilst honouring the temples of our village. You will smell the incense sticks burning next to fangipani flower petals and, of course, take in the view of the Petanu river and lush rainforest below and around you.

For the most authentic nature experience, you have the opportunity to go down the 165 steps to the river running below us. There you will also find our river temple, where natural fresh water springs trickle through the rock wall. Watching the rainforest and river gorge from above is amazing, but experiencing the river and watching nature flow by down the river, is truly magical and an experience for all five senses. The Balinese believe where two water flows meet a special energy is created, and there is no doubt that where the Petanu river and our small waterfall meet is a very special place.
